Hi, there! I’m Stephanie Marquart - mental health counselor, co-founder of Living Roots Counseling, and a fierce lover of humanity. Thanks for stopping by!

I enjoy working with a wide array of struggles (depression, anxiety, burnout, grief, life transitions, value development, and just life challenges in general), and I am welcoming and affirming of individuals from all racial, ethnic, sexual, gender, and religious identities.

Some of my specialties include working with those who-

-Repeatedly find themselves over-functioning in relationships and work, often leading to burnout and overwhelming interpersonal expectations, e.g. people-pleasing.

- Feel stuck, limited, or disoriented by unprocessed developmental wounds- affecting current understanding of self, present relationships, and quality of life, e.g. attachment injuries.

- Seek a safe space to distinguish new personal narratives from an experience of harmful or invalidating systemic, institutional, or structural values, e.g. workplace, family of origin, place of faith.

About Stephanie Marquart

A Southwest Florida native, Stephanie moved to Illinois to receive her BA in Psychology and MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in the western suburbs of Chicago from Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL. Stephanie’s clinical internship was in a community mental health setting, where she served as a therapist for kids, teens, and their families in crisis. Upon completing her internship and graduating with her MA, she then joined a mental health practice in 2016 in Glen Ellyn, IL, where she specialized in her work with children and families. In 2022, Stephanie and her husband launched Living Roots Counseling and moved to Knoxville, TN.

With her love of travel and the outdoors, Stephanie and her husband are often planning their next adventure. When home, she stays busy playing with their dog Frasier, listening to true crime podcasts, and finding ways to bring novelty to each day.
